As part of unincorporated Kitsap County, Keyport has no mayor, city council, or other official organizers, enforcers, or solvers of problems. Instead, we have the Keyport Improvement Club (KIC) – a group of stalwart volunteers who work events and projects to strengthen our community and make life better for Keyport residents. From the Fourth of July celebration to disaster preparedness to summer potlucks to town cleanups and Park maintenance, KIC volunteers help make Keyport a better place to live.
KIC also serves unofficially as the link between the Keyport community and larger organizations like Kitsap County government departments, the Navy, the Port of Keyport, and the Red Cross. We organize community meetings as needed to connect Keyport into the bigger network of Kitsap County. Currently we’re working with representatives of Kitsap County parks to improve and maintain Central Park and Saltwater Park.
In non-pandemic times, eight meetings a year held the second Tuesday of the month, January through June, October and November at 7:00 PM. The location will be noted on the sandwich board at the Post Office. During the COVID-19 pandemic, KIC has met via Zoom on the second Tuesday of the month at 7pm from October through June.
Meeting notices and reminders are sent via a MailChimp email. If you would like to receive these, please notify the KIC secretary or use the Contact Us form.
